The Bucks County Chapter of Fox Chase Cancer Center conducted their annual fundraising event, April In Florence, to support cancer research at Fox Chase Cancer Center.  In 2011 it was a soirée in Paris, this spring, a fiesta in Florence.  April In Florence was sponsored through the generosity of Don and Lauren Morel and was held on Saturday April 14, 2012 at the magnificent Keenan Motors Mercedes-Benz dealership in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Guests were treated to a delightful evening of cocktails, delicious cuisine catered by The Waterwheel Restaurant, dancing and entertainment by Lynell Antonelli, as well as live and silent auctions.  100% of all proceeds from April In Florence directly support cancer research, which benefits everyone in all communities.

Imagine being able to predict which chemotherapy is the right one for your particular case. Imagine too that your physician can then check on the effectiveness of your chosen treatment – rapidly and safely. This year’s event Special Pledge featured Dr. Igor Astsaturov, whose work at Fox Chase Cancer Center is at the forefront of personalized cancer therapy. Because each person’s cancer is different, Dr. Astsaturov seeks to tailor treatments to the individual and his efforts have saved the lives of patients in whom conventional approaches to treatment have failed. Two of those patients attended April In Florence to express their gratitude to Dr. Astsaturov.

“Thanks to our generous supporters,  April In Florence raised over $200,000 including a special pledge of $93,000″, says event chairman Sara Moyer. Dan Levin, president of the Bucks County Chapter Board of Associates further added, “The board and I are priviledged to have presented yet another fantastic evening that benefits the premier cancer research center in our region. We are proud to help support the research and prevention programs at Fox Chase”.
